Weekend Recap: Numerous Sub-17 / Sub-20 5k's

Other News

Hendrix Eldridge and Sloane Vinson

MRA Cross Country invitational - Stradinger and Triplett, runners that were already mentioned, took the wins at the huge private school meet. The MRA girls had a very convincing win against Prep and Columbia, and could perhaps be a force to be reckoned with as their strong JV Girls squad stepped up on Monday and got it done. The surpise performance of this meet was the 7th grader from St. Aloysius, Hendrix Eldridge. Eldridge stuck her nose in with the top dogs in the MSAIS, placing 3rd overall behind 2 sub-5:30 1600m runners.

Tupelo XC Invitational - Gabe McElwain won the Small School Varsity Boys in a 17:18, a very strong showing for the favorite in MHSAA 2A. Hopefully, McElwain will be able to find some competition by the end of the year to snag that sub-17 5k.

Topper Trails Classic - Lucy Littlejohn got her revenge from Saltillo, taking down Katie Meeks at Topper Trails running a PR of 20:29. This is Littlejohn's 2nd win of the season, and is assuring the state that she is the one to beat in MHSAA 1A, and even in Small School competition across the state.

Admiral Invitational - 800m ace and recent Mississippi State commit Mallory Streetman got her 2nd win of the season, showing us that she can run anything from the 400m-5000m. Gary Mata also pulled off the upset taking the win in the Varsity Boys 5k.

East Mississippi XC Classic - Emily Ireland killed the game once again, taking down Emily Snodgrass, coming within 2 seconds of the course record. With her most recent performances, Ireland is making a name for herself to make it on the All-State Team.
